Guzheng Ensemble and Concert Band

The Guzheng Ensemble and Symphonic Band are well-established Performing Arts Groups in Presbyterian High School. Members demonstrate outstanding artistic accomplishments and have excelled at the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation.

The training programmes are carefully planned for optimal implementation to achieve the highest level of musicianship. The CCAs develop student leaders who live out the school values of Resilience, Integrity, Courage, Empathy, and Excellence. The school also provides members with multiple opportunities to pursue their passion and contribute to the school and community through their creativity and artistic talents.

Selection Criteria

CCA EXCELLENCE

Students should have participated in the CCA applied for in their Primary School and/or have a strong aesthetics background and interest in music.

MUSIC BACKGROUND

Students should preferably possess graded examination certificates for practical skills from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), Trinity College, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) or other recognised instrument examining boards.

CHARACTER

Students should possess a positive attitude and a sense of commitment, as described by their Primary School instructors and teachers.

Applicants who do not have prior experience may also apply. The school will assess applicants based on the selection criteria, which may include assessing the potential of the applicants.

Shortlisted applicants will be assessed on both their demonstrated and potential abilities and qualities, through interviews and performance tasks.

Please note that meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted / given an offer
